Ministry with Seniors

seniorsWe have a range of activities for our Seniors including:
  • Lunch for Seniors
  • Bereavement Support Group
  • Home visiting / Befriending
  • Coffee Shop / Lunch Stop

Having said that, many of our Senior members are also involved in different areas, including the Holiday Club for primary school children, prayer groups or women's ministry.

Lunch for Seniors

3rd Monday of each month: 12-1.30pm, St Matthew's Hall
A delicious home-made meal followed by a short "thought for the day" and a discussion over a cup of coffee to finish off the meal.
This is an informal and great opportunity to deepen friendships and support one another. Most members also pray for the children of Kidz Church  or their families, developing the links across the generations.

Bereavement Support Group

1st Thursday of each month: 10-11.45am, Café Alive at The Grange Church
(off Circuit Lane, opposite the Surgery)

This group is a place for mutual support and encouragement for anyone dealing with the loss of a loved one.

The pastoral team at St Matthew's actively supports Engage Befriending, a home visiting / befriending initiative for older people in Reading.
Church volunteers visit a person who has asked for a regular visit at their home, and who may be isolated due to ill health or disability.
