The Alpha Course
New Alpha Course: 24 January 2019
Starting at 7.30pm - Fawley Road, Southcote (near Hugh Faringdon School)
Alpha is a 10-week practical introduction to the Christian faith. It is designed primarily for non-churchgoers and new Christians, and is being run by churches of every denomination.
Devised in the UK, the Alpha course is supported by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and by leaders of all the main denominations.
Most courses take place in the evening with something tasty to eat followed by a talk on some aspect of the Christian faith. After the talk, participants have a chance to discuss the subject in their group, in an environment where each person is free to ask or express whatever they wish.
The course is now running in over 30,000 churches spread over 150 countries, and is translated into more than 45 different languages.
I'm not sure I believe in God... Does that matter?
No - The Alpha course is designed to ask all those difficult questions and express any doubts you may have. Is this all there is to life? What happens when we die?
What commitment do I have to make?
None! Come to as many or as few meetings as you like. We tend to find that once people start the course, they don't want it to end.
How do the evenings run?
We start with food and drink... on the house - 7.45pm
Then we have a talk, some food for thought
Finally we chat, to get our teeth into what we've heard
